Students from I.I.S. Cobianchi visit OMCD Tek Hub plant in Premosello Chiovenda

On Monday, April 14th, 2025, two classes from I.I.S. Cobianchi of Verbania (Technical High School) – specializing in environmental biotechnology and chemistry and materials – visited the OMCD Tek Hub plant in Premosello Chiovenda.

The day had a clear educational objective: to provide the students with a practical overview of the projects that OMCD Tek Hub carries out in the context of sustainability and circular economy, topics that are highly relevant and closely related to their field of study.

In particular, Dr. Gian Pietro De Gaudenzi presented the European projects MESCEL and RESQTOOL, which focus on the recovery of critical raw materials from hard metal scrap and demonstrate the practical potential of sustainable resource management.

Eng. Anna Realini examined the topic of hydrogen as an energy carrier and analysed the associated technologies, environmental benefits and economic prospects. Eng. Mattia Garabelli presented OMCD Tek Hub’s Green Hydrogen project, an initiative that envisages the construction of a plant for the production of green hydrogen directly in Premosello Chiovenda, in line with European decarbonisation targets, Gian Maria Passoni then explained the regulatory framework for recovery plants and hydrogen production, giving the students a clear overview of the for responsibilities and regulatory challenges associated with these technologies.

The students had the opportunity to visit the plants and see first-hand the technologies discussed in the morning – a concrete opportunity to learn how innovation is applied in this field and to speak directly with our experts.
